In any other place than Glacier National Park a road named The Going to the Sun Road would be a bit highfalutin but not here. A history of the road which was an incredible feat to build can be explored here: https://www.nps.gov/glac/learn/news/upload/Going-to-the-Sun-Road-An-Engineering-Feat.pdf
This trip only touched on the glory that is Glacier. Hopefully these photos will give a glimpse of this park which mind blowingly belongs to all Americans. Happy Birthday National Park Service! You’ve had an incredible 100 years! You preserved these lands for us and our children, please continue to preserve them for many generations to come.
Perhaps Logan Pass should be called Billy Goat’s Gruff Pass. This mountain goat situated himself on the trail, preventing anyone from going in either direction.
Along The Going To The Sun Road
Saint Mary Lake
We took the cruise around Lake McDonald on these historic boats. They are lovingly cared for and brought out each year for another tourist season. The link below provides their history. We had an over-informative young man give us the boat’s history and the history of the area. The loud speaker was a little too loud and he was a little too informative, but other than that the trip was nice.
Over and Above’s
Can you believe the Visa bill after taking your granddaughter on vacation? (It was worth it!)
Lots of fun! Lots of memories! Happy Birthday Glacier National Park. We love you!
