Redwood National and State Parks covers over 40 miles of Coastline and 131,000 acres of forests, dunes, ferns, and prairie lands. Protected and loved, the world’s tallest trees abide here, the majestic Coast Redwoods.
We’re spending a month in Crescent City, California, exploring this area. Crescent City is home to two lighthouses and a beautiful working harbor. Its crabbing season and we’ve enjoyed the fresh crab sold in a little shack next to the docks.
The largest animal in the park are the elegant elk, which can be quite elusive. We were lucky enough to spot this herd of cows and calves one morning when we first entered the park.
Gold Bluffs Beach is a short drive off Hwy. 101.
After lunch we took Bald Hill Road. We stopped to walk the Lady Bird Johnson Trail.
After the hike we took Bald Hill Road on up to the top. Its a great jeep road and the lupine made the day.
